Microsoft is releasing an out-of-band update for Windows 10 devices. Fixes a critical bug affecting the OneDrive service.
This issue affects all supported versions of Windows 10. It is important because it makes it impossible to run OneDrive. It was introduced by a previous cumulative update and affects OneDrive and OneDrive for Business.
If you are worried you may encounter the following requests and issues
- Sign out or unlink your account in the Microsoft OneDrive sync app.
- Unpair sites or folders from syncing to your device from Microsoft SharePoint or Microsoft Teams sites.
- Uninstalling the sync app from OneDrive may fail.
The situation should be resolved with the installation of KB5020953. It fixes this error and allows OneDrive to return to normal operation. However, this update is optional. Obviously, it is necessary to intervene manually to start the download and installation.
