With the 24-hour update for Windows 11, Microsoft has significantly tightened the installation criteria. The minimum hardware requirements are now more stringent, limiting access to the latest version of the operating system for some users.
Rufus to the rescue
In the face of these limitations, Rufus, which is highly regarded by users for its simplicity and flexibility, reacted quickly. Thanks to the update, it is now possible to bypass some of these restrictions.
New version for new possibilities
The Rufus 4.6 beta includes a script that automatically deletes a specific registry key, and previously prevented Windows 11 24H2 from being installed on devices that don't meet the official standards. This modification allows you to create USB keys for personal installation, even if your computer does not have the required minimum RAM of 4 GB or a modern enough processor.
Beware of older processors
Although Rufus allows you to bypass some restrictions, it is necessary to check the compatibility of your processor. Processors that do not support POPCNT instructions (generally older than 2008) are not compatible with Windows 11 24H2, even when using Rufus.
To ensure that your configuration is compatible, it is recommended that you use the Microsoft PC Health Check tool.
Computer Health Check (Windows 11 Compatibility Tool)
If you want to know if your computer can run the new Windows 11 operating system, download and install the PC Health Check Compatibility Tool (Windows 11 Compatibility Tool).
