In recent days, the optional update to Windows 11 has received a lot of attention. Called KB5030310, it introduces several important new related features such as Copilot Assistant and a new file explorer. Unfortunately, everything is not perfect as installation problems arise.
One of the most often cited failures concerns the most widely used application of the operating system, File Explorer. The new version seems to have performance issues. I installed update KB5030310 and rebooted after installation as required. Now the search box only flashes when I click on it. As a temporary solution, I changed it to an icon and named “Search”. - The Sort drop-down menu becomes unresponsive, disabling the ability to sort OneDrive files by modification dates.
Some comments mention black screens, computer crashes, and the screen being limited to the mouse cursor. An advanced solution involves restarting your computer. KB5030310 also appears to be an issue with AMD Software Adrenalin 23.9.3 drivers. No solution has been found yet. Removing the drivers and resetting the BIOS proved unsuccessful.
