According to a recent report, Microsoft is working on a new Moment update for Windows 11, Moment 5. It is scheduled to be released in February 2024. It is not impossible that this could be the last Moment update.
Windows 11 is evolving in different ways. Microsoft has provided “snap” updates between feature updates. Since its launch, the operating system has benefited from four “Moments”, the last of which was published in September 2023. These updates introduced minor modifications. Some have added new apps, such as a co-pilot and other new preferences and options. The idea behind these “Moment” updates is to deploy new features more quickly without requiring Windows development as a whole. Previously, Microsoft released the majority of new features through a feature update once a year.
Windows 11 and Moment 5
A report states that the company is working on the next one, the fifth Moment update for Windows 11. If the information is not surprising, it is accompanied by an interesting hypothesis. It is possible that Moment 5 will be the last version of Windows 11, knowing that Microsoft has big plans in 2024, including releasing a new version of Windows. In addition, another feature update is typically planned for Windows 11, and is expected to be rolled out during the second half of 2024.
Our colleague Windows Central It claims that Moment 5 will make modifications to make Windows 11 compliant with the requirements of the DMA also known as the Digital Markets Act. Users in the European Union and European Economic Area will have more control over the operating system as part of these changes. This includes, for example, the ability to uninstall the Edge browser and the Bing search service.
Other new features included include replacing default backgrounds with dynamic “Spotlight” backgrounds, an option to add friendly device names for the Nearby Share feature, AI improvements and updates to certain apps like Notepad. It is supposed to be enriched with character counting function.
