there Hamburg (Germany) will host the WTCS Tour from July 13 to 16, as well as the Junior World Championships and the World Elite Mixed Relay Championships. The race will be contested in a sprint format (300m swimming, 7.5km cycling and 1.75km running) with qualifying and repechage races allowing access to the final*.
Kassander Bogran will play her second World Cup this year in Hamburg. She participates in the second qualifying series, and will take off from the pontoon at 10:35 am. She had launched the season in Abu Dhabi on 3 March where she finished sixth, in a closely contested three-way race over the sprint distance. In May, she competed in the WTCS in Cagliari, which she just finished off of the podium, thus verifying her qualification for the 2023 triathlon test event. At the start of the season, the Frenchwoman won Europe from Quarteira.
Lucky mid-July?
Freshly returned from a course high in the Pyrenees, at Font-Romeu, the Frenchwoman has great ambitions for this race that will be in the form of a super race. In 2022, she had a runner-up finish in Montreal in the only World Championship round contested in the same format. Cassander Bogran, who triumphed in Leeds last year, made her first world circuit debut in Hamburg on July 14, 2018.
In opposition to her, the Frenchwoman will have to face the best triathletes on the track, in particular the American Taylor Spivey. The leader in the world rankings, he finished third at the Abu Dhabi and Cagliari tours this year. The winner of the two competing sprint races this year in Abu Dhabi and Montreal, Briton Beth Potter will also be there. Another American, Summer Rappaport, will also be present at the kick-off. She recently finished third in Montreal after blowing up the race with an escape on a bike. Men’s race: Sole representative Tom Richard
For men, Tom Richard will be the only French actor. Pisciacais, who recently raced nationally at Bordeaux and the Metz Grand Prix, will compete in his third WTCS Championship of the year. After Yokohama, he finished 18th in Cagliari. Last year, he finished sixth in Hamburg. It will be placed in the second qualifying series, and will start at 8:35 am.
The winner of the two races he’s entered this year in Abu Dhabi and Cagliari, Alex Yee (GBR) will be one of the favourites. British Dolphin in Cagliari, New Zealander Hayden Wilde is also a headliner in Hamburg. Aside from Italy, Wilde raced at Yokohama where he won the race. Winner of the final round in Montreal, Australian Matthew Hauser recently showed he’s in brilliance, beating Alex Yee in the final round of the Grand Prix in Metz.
He also finished runner-up in Yokohama in May, and last year he took silver in Hamburg. The Portuguese Vasco Filaka, the leader in the world ranking, will follow. He composed two podiums in 2023, finishing second in Abu Dhabi and then third in Yokohama. Reigning Olympic champion Christian Blumenfelt is also among the outsiders. The Norwegian finished fifth in Montreal.
The French national team will not participate in the World Mixed Relay Championships. Since the main goal in the Olympic qualification race is the 2023 triathlon test event, the selected athletes are currently preparing at height in light of this goal.
